The History of Sky Bar®
Before 1938, chocolate choices were slim. Plain chocolate, maybe either nuts or caramel mixed in—if you were lucky. Then NECCO® introduced the Sky Bar®, the first chocolate bar to have four distinct centers encased in chocolate. When you unveil a product never before seen, traditional radio advertisements won’t do, which is why NECCO® announced their new candy with a dramatic skywriting campaign.
Less than 10 years later, hundreds of thousands of Americans would again look up to see the Sky Bar® name, as its sign was one of only six illuminated in New York’s Times Square following VE-Day, which marked the official announcement of the end of World War II in Europe.
Today, Sky Bar® is still the only candy to have four different flavors. What’s your favorite?
